The brief for Orchard, a private residence on a slender lot with a sharp gradient in Hanover, was refreshingly simple: keep it modern, with a traditional roof. We answered with a standing-seam roofing system over a three-storey contemporary structure that responds directly to the site’s topography. The ground level takes the garage and living spaces, while four suites spread across the two upper floors, each with a private balcony extending out toward the coast.

Outdoors, an infinity pool and a conversation and fire-pit area make the most of the slope, anchoring the space and drawing people together to entertain. It is a home that honours a plain-spoken brief without ever feeling plain, modern lines carried beneath a familiar roof.
