One of the most complex sites we have worked on, this residence is set into the hillside of a half-acre plot in Hanover, Jamaica. The house has been designed to work with the steep topography, stepping down the slope to minimise impact on the land while maximising expansive ocean views and maintaining a strong connection to its natural surroundings.
The scheme comprises three self-contained units arranged over three levels, providing privacy, functionality, and uninterrupted views throughout. Although internally divided into separate units, the building reads externally as a single cohesive residence. The main residence is a five-bedroom home spanning all three floors and forms the primary living space for the owners.
At entry level, the house includes a double garage and a two-bedroom self-contained apartment for the owners’ mother, allowing independent living with convenient access to the main home. The middle level contains a one-bedroom income-generating unit, accessed independently from the side of the building, along with a gym that opens directly to the outdoors, integrating fitness and wellbeing with the landscape.
The lower level opens onto an expansive terrace with an infinity pool that extends toward the horizon, reinforcing the connection between indoor and outdoor living. The primary suite includes his-and-hers walk-in wardrobes, a freestanding bath, and private outdoor showers, creating a calm and private retreat closely connected to its setting.
